The Man Who Fell to Earth is a 1963 science fiction novel by American writer Walter Tevis, originally published as a paperback original by Gold Medal Books. The novel follows Thomas Jerome Newton, an extraterrestrial who comes to Earth seeking a way to aid his drought-stricken home world, but whose plan is undone by institutional hostility and by his increasing assimilation into human life. Contemporary science fiction magazines reviewed the novel on release, and later commentary and reissues treated it as a notable work in Tevis’s fiction.
