Remy Rose reviewed Drag Me Up by R.M. Virtues (Gods of Hunger, #1)
Not bad
4 stars
This was mostly good, even. I did really enjoy the characters and the worldbuilding, and the spice was pretty good. There were just a few things I struggled with though. Like, I think you'd be better off if you knew your Greek mythology going into this. I could not for the life of me remember how everyone was connected/related. The author does explain most of the connections in a line or two over the course of the book, but I think their preexisting canon is doing most of the heavy lifting. Also, I always hate to see so much nepotism and hierarchical thinking in these things... It's all too common. Finally, I'm not sure just how realistic this work was supposed to be, anatomically speaking? There were some odd bits where I reallllyyyy struggled to suspend my disbelief that detracted from the spicy scenes. Overall, I'm probably rating the book …

Overall, I'm probably rating the book much higher than how much I actually enjoyed it, because we're grading on a curve in this genre lol.
