Colección de relatos cortos en los que Asimov plantea las tres leyes de la robótica. Escritos en los 50, se nota de forma perceptible el paso del tiempo por ellos. Sin embargo, su importancia para el resto del universo, la concepción social que supuso de los Robots, las leyes y que los relatos están basados en la psicología y aspectos sociales de los robots, lo hacen un imprescindible (y origen) del universo de Asimov.

Viele gute und sehr starke Kurzgeschichten, die jeweils zwischen 4 bis ca. 50 Seiten umfassen. Vorallem die letzte Erzählung "Der Zweinhunderjährige" ist als Abschluss des Bandes und mit ihren philosophischen Betrachtungen zur Natur des Mensch- bzw- Roboterseins sehr lesenswert. Die Kurzgeschichten legten die Basis für spätere SF-Werke Asimovs und anderer Autoren. So erscheinen etwa die Charakterzüge Rodennberry's Data nicht unähnlich mit denen der menschlicheren Roboter Asimovs.
Einigen Erzählungen der Sammlungen merkt man allerdings auch ihre Entstehungszeit in den 40er-60er recht deutlich an. So wirken neben den gesellschaftlichen Beschreibungen auch die für damalige Verhältnisse wohl futuristischen technologische Beschreibungen aus heutigiger Sicht teilweise eher anachronistisch an.
Liest man die Geschichten aber bewusst unter diesem Aspekt, als Klassiker der SF, sind die Robotergeschichten Asimovs äußerst lesenswert und kurzweilig.
