Lee Child: Echo Burning (2002, Jove Books)

Ex-military cop Jack Reacher returns in this latest in the award-winning series critics call "spectacular" …

Review of 'Echo Burning' on 'Goodreads'

Child concocts a good whodunit, but the writing, as with the previous Reacher books is not very good.

Mystery aspect was interesting, but the main character was a little chiché'ed. I liked the side-story of her immaturity affecting her job and personal life, but it felt like it went overboard a few times.

Marc Levy: The Last of the Stanfields (Paperback, Amazon Crossing)

Review of 'The Last of the Stanfields' on 'Goodreads'

Pretty fun story about finding one's past. Even though I figured out the main reveals many pages before they happened, the story of how things happened kept me engaged. Some of the social commentary reflects a French author's view of the US more than anything. Aside from that suspension of disbelief, the story was fun.

Review of 'Amaranthe III' on 'Goodreads'

Pretty expansive set of books that touches on a bunch of themes rather well. My only complaint is the ending. It's too tidy, and relies on a sort of deus ex machina (diati).
