This is very fluffy YA reading. Better gender dynamics than Twilight, similarly creepy family/relationships dynamics to Vampire Diaries (actually a little creepier), and [technically] no vampires.
The storytelling is pretty good; the copy editing is awful. ("Vile" instead of "vial" and similar weird errors.)
