My favorite Inspector Gamache book

This is the first time in the series where it is not mainly language and scenery that enamoured me. This book is beautiful in structure, pacing, descriptions and character development. The end is sad and hopeful at the same time and I appreciated that this book was barely about a murder mystery. In fact, the murder came in so late it barely registered for me.
