Alex Cabe reviewed Train Dreams by Denis Johnson
Grounded but dreamlike
4 stars
I really enjoyed how this gave a sense of a real and specific time and place, but blended it with dreamlike elements. I felt like I knew a lot about the character and his hopes and fears. I could sense his wonder and how he was both part of and separated from the world.
Listened to on audiobook. The narrator's voice fit the story well. He differentiated voices without performing too much.
