An excellent follow-up to [b:The Thousand Names|15810910|The Thousand Names (The Shadow Campaigns, #1)|Django Wexler|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1355441268s/15810910.jpg|21536059]. Not as much military action, but there was still some and it was good.

I found myself liking all of the point-of-view characters in the different chapters.

Although part of a series, the story in this one was mostly resolved with just enough open questions to keep me curious for the next one [[book:The Price of Valor|23435269] although I want to know what happens next to the people anyway.

Downside: No talking cats or rodents.
