Hello, I'm new here and I mainly read sci-fi and fantasy.

Peter Watts: Blindsight (Firefall, #1) (Hardcover, 2006, Tor Books) 4 stars

It's been two months since a myriad of alien objects clenched about the Earth, screaming …

Finished Blindsight by Peter Watts. What a refreshing take on alien life for a first contact novel! It's a mind-blowing book full of cool concepts about sentience and human mind. The non-linear story might be confusing at first and the world-building was shown in glimpses of flashbacks. Each of characters has their own speciality for their role in making first contact. I had difficulty imagining the scenes, but the story is so fascinating to read.

finished reading Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky (Children of Time, #2)

Adrian Tchaikovsky: Children of Ruin (Paperback, 2019, Orbit) 5 stars

The astonishing sequel to Children of Time, the award-winning novel of humanity's battle for survival …

My last book for October is Children of Ruin. A spooky sci-fi for spooky month!

It's not as mind-blowing as the first book, but it will still screw with your mind. The tone shifted into horror in the middle and I enjoy it.

Some of characters from previous book also made appearance. I love how they grow from last book.

Now I'll take a break before reading the final book in the trilogy.
