Legends of Radio (AudiobookFormat, BBC Audiobooks)

This collection of 1940s radio shows was interesting. I really liked the Lone Ranger shows and would have given them a 5 star on their own. returnreturnI liked that they didn't completely edit out the advertizments, like "The Shadow Brought to you by Blue Coal" and the spots inside of "The Legend in the Scarlet Cloak" for how to add this show to your local programing, indicating it was from a demo record sent to stations. returnreturnHowever when it came to the serial of the Adventures of Superman "Batman's Mystery" it was ridicioulus. I thoguht I woudl like this because I love my VHS of the the 1940s Batman theatre serial, but the radio was annoying. Every 15 mintues show less than half of it was actual action. Most was theme music, an up until this point, and a long list of winners of some contenst "Bill Smith, Hancock, MI, Geroge Jones, Brooklyn, NY," etc. While this may have been fun as a kid in the 40s listenign each day, or missing a day, one after another on 4 CDs is ridicolus, to the point I'm waiting on listening to my next Superman collection. Also the Superman/Batman story seemed to be silly about the secret identiy thing. Repeatedly telling the listener "Clark Kent who is really Superman" and "Bruce...I mean Batman" to the point that if a super hero really did that, it woudl be worse than Batman only driving the same car as Bruce Wayne did, back in the theatre serials.
