What did I read?!

For a 2013 novel, it captured perfectly one worse, not worst, possible scenario of a CyberStorm. There were also countless of very useful survival "tips" (if we can call it that), how we should not forget our humanity (contrary to the common depiction in post-apocalyptic fiction that we all turn cold killers), and the importance of a mesh network—a technology with us for years but we're still ignoring.

Let's not forget the deep philosophical discussions of the characters. The different inclinations of the people in this story representing the different stand of you and me on real-life. How it also forces us to face the reality of our assumptions, judgemental society; these and more are all present in this novel.

It's December 19, 2018; are we capable of preventing this from happening? Are we ready to live through it and survive if it does happen?

This was a good bridge from one series to another. Concise yet full of action and humanity. I just hope the new character isn't who I think he is.

We Are A Family

For me, "We Are A Family" is more fitting as Book 6 was completely about Families and Relationships. Touching on the very old "we know better than you so just listen to us" was a very brave decision, if this was written before the 1980 or 1990s, it surely would have received a very strong backlash.

At the same time, paring that up with teenagers turning young adults who demonstrated they can understand the world and sees it for what it is was a good way of balancing out the things this novel has brought to the surface.

A must read. Both parents and coming-of-age kids will learn a lot from this 6th book in this ever expanding world of Mira Brand.
