The story is fresh, imaginative. A very cool concept about humanity, control and faith.

Narratively speaking, I don't know if it's because of the writer or the translator, but the narration and dialogues are dull. Another thing to consider, this is a heavily plot-driven book. Take that as a warning, since most characters are plain and just serve the story purpose.

Even with that wooden words, it was very enjoyable, I liked that the narration went back and forth while dealing with the secrets. If this gets a movie it'd be pretty cool.

It was kind of difficult at the start to get used to the narrative: Fluid but with blank places, never seeming to have a pause, characters that usually told everything between lines, perfect timing and definitely even if interesting this book didn't age well (hah).
But was quite pleasant anyway.

I enjoyed the brutal fights and the way mythology of old ages came to live again.

"Do you not see a convergence of life and myth, here, during the last days of life on this planet?"

I'll add Zelazny to my to-read repertory.

I'm unsure of how to rate this book. The idea is great; the execution, as far as I know, was based on I-Ching readings, so even Phillip K. Dick forced himself to accept the path the story followed by consulting it, and it's noticeable.
Something I liked was the way the populace was minimized, conquered. A thought hard to grasp, since murricans are so full of themselves. Another thing was the superiority of the winners, the closed-mind they all share. Relatable to these days as well.
